Leaving Oregon

24 augustus 2008

Wow, I just realised, that it has only been a week since I have left Oregon, but I have already experienced so much!

Here is a short update of my travellings so far.

Wednesday, a week and ahalf ago, was my last day at camp. It was weird, everybody had already said goodbye to eachother at the banquet, and even before some people had left, and there we still were, cleaning camp. We were all ready to leave I think, and the cleaning was fysically hard, and it was raining all day. But then finally, an end came and I had some nice days to look foward to staying at Chris. We had a nice chill week togheter, during the days he had to work but at night and in the evenings we spend some nice quality time togheter. We went to the park, chilled by the water (I even jumped in with all my clothes on because it just looked sooo good) and we had nice dinners. At fridaynight we went to the river house, a shared house from some people who live across the river from westwind. It was nice to see camp from the other side, it looked quiet and beautifull at night, under the stars. A couple of my fine friends came over and we drink, made a fire and played some games. It was fun, but then, when it was time to say goodbye, I got sad. It was hard for me, making friends and then have to say goodbye. I want to believe I will see these wonderfull people again, but I also know we live so far and we have our own lives at the other side of the world. Ah well, I tried to not think about it too much, as I was also quiet waisted.

Sunday Chris and I left Lincoln City, I was so fortunated to have him taking me up to Portland and we decided to spend a nice last day there. We went up to a rose garden and a Japanese garden. It was too bad that the rain was pouring down on us (did make it smell nice though!) It was still nice, the gardens made me feel calm and sereen. We went into the city to this place someone tipt us, called bartini, a fancy place with almost thousends of martini's and cocktails. We were lucky enough to step right into happy hour so we did some cocktail tasting and ate some more shrimp, that had become quite a tradition troughout the summer. After dinner it was time for goodbye. He dropped me off at Jennifer / Equinox' (a ranch counsellor) house, and then we realised that saying goodbye was harder on us then we both realised. I've been telling myself all summer that this was just for a specific period of time, but we both felt like our time didn't stopped there. It is a good thing we still are in contact by now. So I spend the night at her house and then I hedded up to my flight to San Diego! It was supposed to be a short flight....but was I wrong. I had a stop in Las Vegas, and after a while on the plain, I was thinking by myself 'why aren't we landing yet, it is about time'. It turned out that there was a thunderstorm above LV and the aiport was closed for departure and arrivals. We had to circle around in the sky for about 1hour, but the aircraft didn't had enough fuel to do so. So we were heading off to the Orange County. But then appeard that more plains had the same idea, and the OC was full. Eventually we were heading to Burbank, not that for from San Diego. Before we landed, the airco broke and it was about a 100 degrees outside...we all had to leave the airplane as they fixed it and refueld. We waited for over 1,5 hour, and then we went back to Las Vegas. Too bad that they couldn't sent me off on another plain to SD as I was so close. In LV I ofcourse missed my connection and had to wait another 2 hours. Good thing that there was a nice view, the strip is very close to the airport. It was also cool to see how you are flying over miles and miles of dessert, a brown empty landscape and then all of the sudden a big city rises. My flight to SD was not long at all and it was the best because we flew next and over a thunderstorm and it was so cool to see the lightning!  At the airport Jeff, my mom's friend, was waiting for me all day, that was so nice. The last time I had seen him was about 15 years ago, I couldn't even recognise him. But he was still his funny old selve and also very generous. We drove downtown and looked for a nice place where they would still serve me something to eat. We had a nice shrimp cocktail and some past and talked. Then it was time for me to go to bed so we drove to his nice appartment.

It is time for me to head to bed too, so I will write some more soon!
