Camp Westwind!

Dear true blog readers!I know you are all waiting for me to write a new message and letting know that I am ok.Well, I am ok! But I am also making very very long days so I really haven't been able to send any type of message. I did had any acces to a computer untill yesterday, but I also don't have the time to use it. My cellphone has also no reception here.So I am just taking this little uppertunity, right before dinner, to let you all know that I am safe and working hard. The view and the environment here is absolutely beautifull. I am in a forest right at the beach and a river. The team is really really nice, I am sure we're going to make a lot of friends.As for me, it is fun but hard. We have breakfast at 7 or 8 and are buisy untill at least 10 at night. We do a lot and I learn a lot, but I haven't really made it my own yet. I am still following directions and following the program. There is no time for myself and my own toughts. That is hard, because I've already have been trough a lot (5 airports in 2 days on a 5 hour sleep, 3 diffrent cities, all these new people, etc) So there is no time to take a breath and there will be no time because monday the rest off the staff arrives and we have a 10 day program with them and as me being a Unit Coordinator (along with 4 others) I have to lead a lot off that training program. Luckly it is all very interesting and I can find many similar things of my studies of social work, so that is keeping me very enthousiastic and curious about the job.The 19th the first campers arrvive and then the real summercamp experience begins.The last 2 days I had special UC training and slowly things are becomming more clearer every day. I am very happy with my position and I've learned that my position is a very special one and that the fact that I hold this position means that I am special and I have a lot of good supervising qualities in me.I have to come back on the real story of how I've been spending my days, along with some nice pictures wich I (for the one's who know me pretty well) have been taking a lot!Lieve vriendinnetjes ik vergeet jullie zeeeeeeker niet, I won't pull a Esther on you guys! Maar ik ben wel erg erg druk en ik kan daar echt niets aan doen want ik moet nu echt hard werken. Dus als het soms lang duurt voordat ik wat laat horen neem dat dan ajb niet persoonlijk op! Ik ben heeeel erg geinteresseerd in hoe het gaat met jullie en al jullie spannende afstudeer /stage/ vriendjes /werk/uitgaans verhalen!Love you all en tot snel!

Oh mijn lieve kleine kloeksie Zóóóóó hard werken met al die amerikaanse workalholics. Zotg in ieder geval dat je slaapt, dan trek je het allemaal. Ja je hebt niet echt tijd om al die indrukken te verwerken maar je had toch een paar dagen ook bij die famlie?
Word het nu een wat relaxter schema als de kids er zijn? Ik hoop het maar.
Fantastisch dat je zoveel nieuwe skills leert en dat je eigen kwaliteien zo van pas komen.
Go for it girl.

Oh een PS-je probeer toch nog als het even kan een paar woorden in 't engels te schrijven voor je familie, anders gaan ze denken dat het steeds maar nederlands is en kijken ze misschien niet meer.

Ach wat stom van me dat laatste berichtje. Het hele stuk was bijna in't engeles! Ik denk dat ik dat vergat omdat de laatste regels in 't Nederlands waren! Tja , tja je moedertje wordt oud en vergeetachtig (LOL)!
't was trouwens heerlijk om je stemmetje te horen en ik mis je knuffels ook al.

Hey Melissie,
Goed om te horen dat alles goed met je gaat. Maar de werkdruk ligt wel hoog zo te horen! Ik heb een meisje ontmoet bij het Nuon die bevriend was met Esther in Spanje toevallig he?? Ze wist ook wie jij was! Wou je meteen bellen maar toen kwam de harde realiteit dat dat niet kan (snik,snik). Hier gaat alles goed, lekker weer maar mis me Haaimaatje.

Well well what an adventure! One I can completely appreciate! I love the summer camp life! I loved it since I was 11 and even thought I could live year round at camp! having spent six summers in summer camp as both camper and as staff I can now say that the counselors and other camp leaders can be such an awesome influence on the children attending camp! The leaders (those that are exceptional) can literally crate magic for the children and enrich their lives in ways that their "normal" life does not allow. There are volumes that can be written on the importance for today's children to have an experience that takes then outside the box of the familiar and routine existence. Summer Camp is typically a place where that is pretty much guaranteed!

How fortunate for Camp Westwind that they have the privilege of such a gifted and talented leader as Melissa. Melissa has many special gifts including that of "the messenger" who brings special knowledge and to others. She will determine exactly what the message is in each situation. Her love of ease, comfort, music and harmony is guaranteed to be well appreciated by children!

I predict a fun-filled Summer for all at Camp Westwind!
